a post about giri's nose

So lately I haven't been feeling very inspired to write anything on here. Basically because I assumed that my xanga wasn't getting any attention due to the lack of comments and eprops. But suddenly I found out that a certain Mr. Giritharan Sripathy was indeed reading this sad excuse for a blog and that made my day! And this Giri was so looking forward to a new post that I decided to dedicate one to him! Yay! Humanity may rejoice!

Even though I believe that the whole world already knows about Giri's nose incident (it was even in the newspaper over here!), I have to mention it again since it must be one of the greatest tragedies of mankind. Although I must say the world rarely witnesses such heroism... Giri must be one of the bravest Giris out there. You go my friend. However I did express my initial concerns of how this incident might affect Giri modeling career?

Further important news to share. I moved to Austria on the 17t of June and start attending the University of Vienna in October, studying Geography and English. With the goal of becoming a teacher. Please spare me your criticism, it what Ie decided to do and Ie heard all the negative comments so I don need any more. I also accomplished obtaining my driver license and own my wn?car although it sort of belongs to my dad, but I allowed to call it ine? It a Nissan (what a surprise considering my dad works for Nissan!) and it the most boring shade of grey imaginable but it still works (don know for how much longer). This car also brought about a huge amount of family conflict which is slowly amending itself, but I try to not let it affect me in too many ways. You can pick your parents?/EM>

Well, I dare say that Ie settled quite nicely here in Vienna and I like living at my dorm and I have a nice view out my window (three trees and 127 rooftops) and my fellow dorm-mates are all pretty funky people and wee a fairly international bunch of people too, Italians, Greeks, Eastern-Europeans (sorry vague) and Africans (oh no, even vaguer). Plus the going-out-scene is top-notch here though I must say nothing beats the Ministry of Sound and I cannot wait to go back there and dance the night away.

And another highlight of living in Vienna: I have met someone who puts the cherry on my Sundays. Maybe you will hear more about that later?/EM>

Oh and due to large quantities of spare time and the vastness of the world wide web, I have come across some photographs which I need to post here. They would be another example of how life can get you down and what fame and fortune does to people. They're also an example of how fake Hollywood is and what a wrong image of beauty is being conveyed to the common people. I don't mean to go all dramatic here, but if one takes a moment to consider the MESSAGE (hahaha how deep) these photographs put into words then one does, especially as a woman, feel slightly better about oneself....

It's funny what a team of make-up artists, personal stylists, re-touching artists, skilled photographers and the right lighting can do to a person. And it's horrible how the public actually believes that these women look this amazing and immaculate in "real life". But alas! They are actually human beings like the rest of us! With bad hair days and in Britney's case, unstable personalities! Hope you've enjoyed this little confidence boost...

welcome to fooootboooll

oh how proud i am to be european right now.

we sure know how to kick those balls around.

although this was indeed sad. to see england go. but there chances decreased by quite a bit through the absence of owen and later rooney and beckham. the latter should try being less of a wimp by the way. and rooney needs to learn that you just don't do that to a fellow male human being. i mean that poor guy might never be able to procreate anymore. and i'll miss crouch. the "beanstalk". he always looked so clumsy with the ball yet held his composure.

however. this was sheer brilliance. zidane is a great man. and an even better footballer. i'm really hoping that they will win. and since i like neither germany (because i just don't) nor italy (they tend to be cocky and get away with things that are not fair) it would be alright if portugal got it since they've never won before and it would just be nice to have a completely new world champion. like the euro cup. greece. haha what a laugh that was. anyhow this is sort of like the european cup anyways. i like it. what patriotic feelings are developing inside of me at just the right point in time. i can truly say that i'm happy to be back =D

soooooo then that is basicallt a summary of my summer so far. well no but my summer in europe anyways. oh yeah,  meet my favourite football team:

my brother is the one in the back right in the middle. but he's grown so much over the last year that he is almost as tall as me. and he is 4.5 years younger! i dont think thats okay at all. he makes me feel short. im not used to that feeling. ai ai ai.

Here's some nostalgia

look at how tall i've always been! in the second photo i secretly took off my shoes to lose some height haha. josefine was mad about that because it made me look shorter than her (although i totally wasnt!). and then when i'm about to leave, in my last shining hour, they make me sit on the floor! aiyoo. looking at these photos made me think some profound things, about people i know, people i knew, people i like and dislike. me and josefine were in the same class for 3 years. i think that says a whole big deal. like josefine should move to vienna and i'll let her live in my student dorm and pretend she is a pet. because i love her so much that the future seems pretty unromantic without her. haha i'm being silly now. Mitchell was also in the same class as me for three years and boy did we go through a lot. now i havent spoken to him since christmas. girlfriend's keeping him busy i guess...and who else can i see...the rest of the beloved DB crowd, Caitlin, Kendra, Jun. The bright and brilliant Steph Koehler. then there's the unforgetable hilarious Kendrick Lau. And yet a whole bunch of others i wouldn't mind forgetting . . .

The first week is over. Which means I am done with 7 out of 10 written exams. Which means I am three exams away from being done with the international baccalaureate. This weekend I only have to revise my English literature and remember useful quotations and then I have until the 17th for German. Because I going to study soooo much for German. Gee, that language really gets to me. All the grammar and vocabulary I still have to learn. It a joke.

And once I done with all of this I going here. Oh well it might not be amongst the top 10 in the world but it sure looks pretty. I can't stand the judgment people make when you tell them you chose to go to a completely average university in your home country. Because they think if it happens to not be in the US or England or Canada or whatever they obviously must suck. But come on guys, just because the name University of Vienna might not be as recognized as Harvard, Yale, NYU, LSE or whatnot, doesn't mean that you receive a less great education and have fewer chances as everyone else in the world. Because ultimately when you're looking for a job they won't look at where you went but what you did. Because they look for people with experience rather than academic attainment. And if you got both, well then that brilliant. Okay, weight off my chest.

Yesterday we got our personal leavers' booklets. With our own individual pages of photos, messages etc. and the pages which me and Julie designed were first! Haha we did feel pretty special about that. Although I look like a bit of a Viking right now. Maybe Il scan it and post it here. So you understand. but not now because I actually not allowing myself to mess around with the computer too much these days since it just wastes a lot of time, but then hey, I here on xanga writing this so I have not been that persistent.


Seeing this made me undescribingly happy. My all-time favourite boyband. Forget the Backstreet Boys, screw Westlife. These guys are it. All I can say is . . . relight my fire, your love is my only desire. Oh yeeeaaah.

And I felt like sharing this with everyone:

Ladies and gentlemen, of the class of '06.
Wear Sunscreen.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth.
Oh, never mind.
You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they've faded.
But trust me, in 20 years, you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked.

Don't worry about the future.
Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind.
The kind that blindside you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing every day that scares you.

Sing.

Don't be reckless with other people's hearts.
Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss.

Don't waste your time on jealousy.
Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind.
The race is long and, in the end, it's only with yourself.

Remember compliments you receive.
Forget the insults.
If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters.
Throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life.
The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives.
Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't.

Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees.
You'll miss them when they're gone.

Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't.
Maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't.
Maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary.
Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either.
Your choices are half chance.
So are everybody else's.

Enjoy your body.
Use it every way you can.
Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it.
It's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.

Read the directions, even if you don't follow them.

Get to know your parents.

Accept certain inalienable truths:
Prices will rise.
Politicians will philander.
You, too, will get old.
And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don't expect anyone else to support you.
Maybe you have a trust fund.
Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse.
But you never know when either one might run out.

Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40 it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.
